Final field set for the 2024 Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches

PGA TOUR event features 19 of the top 50 players in the world

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida – The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches today announced the field for the 2024 event which returns to PGA National Resort’s Champion Course, Feb. 28 – March 3.

The 144-player field is officially set with 19 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) committed, and boasts 63 PGA TOUR winners combining for 204 TOUR titles. Headlining the field is World No. 2 Rory McIlroy, World No. 9 Matt Fitzpatrick, 6-time PGA TOUR winner Rickie Fowler and defending champion, Chris Kirk.

McIlroy, who will be making his first start in the event since 2018, won the 2012 Cognizant Classic in memorable fashion, holding off a Sunday charge from Tiger Woods to win his third PGA TOUR title and rise to World No. 1 for the first time in his career.

Kirk won the 2023 event in a playoff over Eric Cole to earn his fifth PGA TOUR title and first since the 2015 Charles Schwab Challenge. He recorded the lowest winning score (14-under) since the tournament moved to PGA National in 2007. Since then, Kirk has gone on to revisit the winner’s circle, capturing his sixth career victory at the PGA TOUR’s season opening event, The Sentry 2024. He is currently ranked No. 4 in the FedExCup standings and 26th in the world.

In addition to Kirk, the long-standing event will feature nine other past champions including Sepp Straka (2022), Sungjae Im (2020), Keith Mitchell (2019), Rickie Fowler (2017), Padraig Harrington (2015, 2005), Russell Henley (2014), McIlroy (2012), Camilo Villegas (2010) and Matt Kuchar (2002).

Other notable players set to compete are South Florida residents Shane Lowry, Gary Woodland and Daniel Berger, 2023 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year Eric Cole, fan favorites Justin Rose, Min Woo Lee and Tom Kim, and current FedExCup leader, Matthieu Pavon.

Six players have accepted sponsor exemptions into the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches including Harrington, APGA standout Chase Johnson, Denmark’s Rasmus Højgaard, 2023 NCAA Champion Fred Biondi, two-time TOUR winner Patton Kizzire and Ryan Palmer who will make his 500th PGA TOUR start.
