Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches Gifts Golf Equipment to Inner City Youth Golfers in Time for Holiday Season

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida – In the spirit of the season, The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches is proud to announce that Inner City Youth Golfers, Inc. (ICYG) is the second recipient of the tournament’s Growing the Game Equipment Grant Program. Launched in August, this initiative in partnership with the PGA TOUR Superstore provides new golf equipment to local nonprofits, making the sport more accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Todd Fleming, Vice President and Executive Director of the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, shared his thoughts on the donation, saying, "As we approach the holiday season, we’re happy to support Inner City Youth Golfers, Inc. with this donation. This equipment will help open doors for more people in our community to experience the game of golf, build confidence, and learn important life skills. We’re grateful for the opportunity to assist ICYG in their mission to inspire and empower the next generation."

ICYG provides an innovative program for youth in Riviera and West Palm Beach that combines academics and golf to develop strong character and leadership skills among inner-city students. Through after-school sessions, weekend play, and mentorship from teachers, law enforcement, and community leaders, the program instills important leadership values, including respect, discipline, and etiquette, using the game of golf as a tool for personal growth.

Malachi Knowles, president and founder of the nonprofit expressed his gratitude for the donation, stating, "This generous donation will be instrumental in helping us grow the game of golf in our community,” Knowles said. “The new equipment will be used at the African American Golfers Museum and Inner City Youth Golfers Clubhouse facility located in Riviera Beach, enabling us to introduce more youth to the sport."

The Cognizant Classic has proudly donated more than $70 million to charitable causes, including over $55 million in the 18 years since Children’s Healthcare Charity, Inc. became the official beneficiary. In just 2024, the tournament supported more than 50 local charities, impacting over 100,000 kids in South Florida.
